  ‍All your personal gear will go into your bucket then your sleeping bag, tarp and blanket will go into a large black garbage sack labeled with your name on it. Remember weight and space limited so please stick to the items on the list!  Make sure  all clothing fits well and is comfortable.

  5 gallon bucket (Stake will provide)
  1 warm sleeping bag (it will get cold)
  Old blanket (wool is best)
  1 coat, heavy and warm
  1 heavy duty rain poncho or Rain jacket
  1 tarp 8 x 10
  2 pair of Sturdy running shoes or hiking boots to walk in, BROKEN IN or you’ll have blisters
  4 pair of moisture wicking socks(wool or synthetic material)
  Underwear
  1 metal pie plate
  1 Utensil Set
  1 tin cup
  1 small carabiner(that can attach your tin cup to your hip)
  1 pair sturdy work gloves
  Headlamp or Small flashlight
  1 small hand towel
  Comb or brush
  1 toothbrush and toothpaste
  Deodorant
  A few Bandaids
  Sunscreen
  Prescription medication (if needed)
  Insect repellent - Spray permethrin on clothes & Repellent with Deet for skin
  glasses/contacts & solution if needed
  chapstick with SPF
  Water Bottle
  scriptures or a church magazine

  MEN SHOULD BRING:
  ‍2 pairs of wool or canvas pants (no levi’s)
  2 long-sleeved shirts
  1 western style hat (no baseball or army hats)
  Warm pajamas

  ‍WOMEN SHOULD BRING:
  ‍2 mid-calf length long sleeved dresses (or Two shirts/blouse) with long sleeves and 2 mid calf length skirts
  1 pair of ankle length bloomers  (can be made out of old pajama bottoms) and/ or capri length leggings (yoga pants)
  1  straw hat (no baseball hats)
  1-2 aprons
  1 flannel nightgown/warm pajamas
  Feminine hygiene supplies

Embark on an immersive journey back in time with our youth trek experience, where participants step into the shoes of pioneers who made the arduous trek to the Salt Lake Valley in the mid-1800s.

What you do

Dressed in authentic pioneer attire, organized into families, and tasked with pulling handcarts, youth will engage in a poignant reenactment of the faith-building experiences of their forebears. This unique adventure offers more than just a historical simulation; it's an opportunity to deepen one's understanding of the sacrifices and unwavering faith that characterized the pioneers' journey. Through shared challenges, reflective discussions, and moments of spiritual connection, participants not only honor the legacy of those who came before them but also cultivate personal resilience, leadership skills, and a strengthened sense of faith.
